Rockin’ science

On Monday, March 3rd, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Voss’s science classes were treated to a visit by parent and geologist, Mr. Rocchetta (children Emma and Grace) to kick off our unit on rocks and minerals. Mr. Rocchetta brought samples of fascinating rocks and minerals from around the world to show the children. He taught them about how these objects are formed, used and relate to our everyday lives. He also shared stories about how his job has taken him to interesting places across the globe searching for these minerals. The students were able handle the samples and ask questions about the topics. Everyone enjoyed the visit thoroughly. Mr. Rocchetta’s had some excellent parting advice for the children and that was to find something they love and pursue it as a career.
