6th Grade Students Participate In Team Building Field Trip to Sunken Meadow

Grade six students participated in the Outdoor Environmental Education Field Trip to Sunken Meadow State Park.  Students had an opportunity to conduct a number of science experiments as well as complete team building Project Adventure activities.  This is a great way for students to get to know one another during the Association for Middle Level Education's Month of the Young Adolescent.

Students at Dayton Avenue School continue to demonstrate Safe, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Kind, and Successful behavior as part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support system.  Keep up the good work. 

Students Eager to Earn Shark Bites to Help Dr. Christie

We had our 2nd Principal's Helper of the year today.  Students continue to do a great job demonstrating the Safe, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Kind, and Successful behavior that is the hallmark of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system.  Keep up the good work. 

Breanna Dierlam is the First Principal's Helper of 2014-2015

Students earn Shark Bites for demonstrating Safe, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Kind, and Successful (SHARKS) behavior as part of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system.  Breanna earned enough Shark Bites to be the first Principal's Helper of 2014-2015.  Breanna was a Principal's Helper in 4th grade as well.  Keep up the good work!

Dayton Avenue School's Annual Open House

Faculty and staff at Dayton Avenue School welcomed parents in grades 3 through 6 to our annual Open House.  Parents met teachers and received an overview of our curriculum.  We are grateful for the support of our parents and in particular the South Manor PTA.  It was a great evening. 

Dayton Avenue School Celebrates PBIS Shark Spirit Week

Dayton Avenue School's PBIS Shark Spirit Week culminated with our PBIS Kick-Off Assembly and students participating the following day in the Homecoming Parade.  Dayton Avenue spirit was on display throughout the week.  Sixth grade students shared with their peers what is means to be Safe, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Kind, and Successful.

 

Mrs. Voss's Students Take the Pyramid Challenge

Students were asked to build  the tallest tower they could in eight minutes. Each group was given Dixie cups and index cards. We discussed working together, communicating and positively speaking/ encouraging to each other. If the tower falls they needed to plan again and rebuild. The team with the tallest tower after 8 minutes wins. Students completed a T-Chart following the activity identifying things the experienced and observed and how the activity would help the classroom environment.
