Celebrating Earth Day

3rd Grade Pajama Reading

On the heels of our March Madness reading initiative Dayton Avenue School continues to promote reading in every facet of our school.  Our 3rd grade students are enjoying pajama reading time.

Humble and Kind 3rd Grade Service Learning Initiative

The 3rd grade is transforming our already positive culture with their Humble and Kind Service Learning initiative.  The positive message of being Humble and Kind can be seen throughout the community.  The message is placed on electronic signs from the Fire Department to the Town of Brookhaven.  It is a testament to the power we have to make a difference in the lives of others.  Stay tuned for more on our Humble and Kind project.

Literacy and Math Training at DAS

Faculty and staff work each day to improve instructional outcomes for students.  You can see faculty collaborating in both literacy and math training this week.

6th Grade Students teach 3rd Graders Science Lab

Mrs. Smith's students continued to hone the skills as scientists with another hands-on lab. Mrs. Smith also include 3rd grade students in the lab.  Mrs. Smith's class taught their younger schoolmates.

Sweet Hearts & Heroes Comes to Dayton Avenue School

Tom Murphy and Rick Yarosh returned to Dayton Avenue School to share their message of empowerment and provided students with the tools to transform the culture in our school.  Tom is a former mixed martial artist that competed professionally and Rick Yarosh an American War Hero brought their message of HOPE and kindness to our boys and girls.  Tom and Rick were also joined by Rick's companion Amos.  There presentation is powerful and life changing.  See the pictures and some videos below.
