Digital Media Citizenship at Dayton Avenue School
For the second consecutive year Dayton Avenue School will be recognized as a Common Sense Media: Digital Media Citizenship School. The school has to complete a rigorous process that includes the Library Media Specialist and all students completing lessons through the integration of Common Sense Media curriculum. We take seriously the importance of teaching our children appropriate use of computers and digital/social media.

Friday Night Lights
Unlike the football tradition in Texas, Dayton Avenue School students finish their week with Friday Flashlight Reading. Mrs. VanTronk's class was kind enough to invite Dr. Christie in to enjoy a good book on a Friday afternoon. The learning environment established by Mrs. VanTronk, Mrs. Orlando, and Ms. Lucia is amazing.
Dayton Avenue School Science Fair
Dayton Avenue School students in grades 3 through 6 participated in the annual Science Fair. Students followed the guidelines established by the Brookhaven National Laboratory and science teachers from the Junior-Senior High School judged the projects. Winning projects at each grade level represent Dayton Avenue School at Brookhaven National Laboratory Science Fair.

Crazy Sports Night
Crazy Sports Night is an opportunity for students to enjoy friendly competition among the faculty and staff at Dayton, South Street, Eastport, and Tuttle Avenue School. This year Dayton Avenue School believes Everything is Awesome! as we take on the Lego Movie theme. Tonight will be fun for all! President Business (aka Dr. Christie) is hoping the Crazy Sports Night Cup returns to Dayton Avenue.
Sarah Cordova Writers Workshop Training
Faculty and staff from across the district joined Sarah Cordova for a full day Writers Workshop training at Dayton Avenue School. It was a great day to collaborate and learn new strategies to support our children in the classroom.
PBIS Principal's Helper
Students across all grades continue to demonstrate Safe, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Kind, and Successful behavior as part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) system. Students who earned Shark Bites have an opportunity to help Dr. Christie. We all know he needs all the help he can get.
