Mrs. Montreuil's Class Produces Wacky Weather Forecasts
WACKY WEATHER REPORTS
In conjunction with our topic in
science, Weather, we are planning an exciting and informational activity. All
students are about to become METEOROLOGISTS!
Each
student may choose to work as a part of a team or individually. A team may
consist of NO MORE than four
members. The meteorologists’ may pick any REAL place in the United States
to report the weather. The reporting should be accurate for the area in which they
pick. (Example: Mickey Mouse would not need to get his snow boots ready for a
blizzard!) Use the information you have gained in class, from the techbook and
from watching forecasts. Each presentation must
include the following topics:
·
Temperature
·
Five
Day Forecast
·
Humidity
Levels
·
Wind
patterns
·
Fronts
(low pressure/high pressure-and how this relates to current weather)
·
Storms
(approaching, current, historical)
·
Accurate
“weather” terminology
Your
skit should be at least 3 minutes in length. You may perform it “LIVE” in the
classroom or you may video tape on location (aka: your house; yard;
neighborhood). Your forecast does not have to be in tune with the time of year.
Keep in mind that more research will need to be done if you choose St. Louis , Missouri
in July.
You
may make posters, maps and/or use props (umbrellas, big sunglasses, beach
towels, pails, shovels, scarves, hats, etc). However, the props must be
relevant to your weather report. Try to be creative, but keep in mind, you need
to be accurate when using terms!!

Dayton Avenue Faculty Continue Leader in Me Book Talk
The entire Dayton Avenue School faculty is participating in a Leader in Me book talk written by Dr. Stephen Covey. We are beginning the implementation of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids into our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system. In order to integrate the 7 Habits Covey tells us that we need to take an inside out approach to the Habits. We continue to deepen our understanding of the 7 Habits and look forward to integrating these principles with our students.
