Students who completed the Hour of Code extended their learning by engineering, designing, and building balloon powered race cars. Students in grades three through six competed in the great Balloon Race throughout the day. Great job done by all. Trophies and ribbons were made with a 3-D printer.

Future Engineers in Third Grade
Students in Mrs. Defeo, Mrs. Orlando, and Mrs. Castranova's class integrated literacy, geometry, technology, writing social studies (land forms and water features) and team building to create a model suspension bridge, a beam bridge, and an arch bridge. The students worked cooperatively as a "crew" of engineers to research and design each bridge. They wrote up their concepts and constructed each bridge, choosing a physical setting (mountains, valleys and a plateau). They also included water features, such as a river, an ocean and a lake. Great job by all involved.
