Dayton Avenue is Family Figuratively and Literally!

Picture with John Scharf named after his Uncle and Eastport Graduate
who perished on 9/11/2001.  Honor for me to work with him.
It is a privilege to maintain this blog and support the learning of boys and girls at Dayton Avenue School.  I am fortunate to be Principal of the most remarkable school with the best kids, staff, and parents.  As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week I want to wish all of you a restful and joyful Thanksgiving with your families.  Over the last six years I have met so many of you from the community and truly feel like I am part of the Dayton Avenue family.  To include working over the last several years with two of my cousins children.

No Shave November

Captain America in the background is getting tired of looking at my beard.  I keep telling him you don't have to be a superhero to make a difference.  We look forward to our No Shave November culminating assembly on Tuesday, November 21st.  This year we have female faculty at each grade level volunteering to take a whip cream pie to the face and then get shaved.  We are being superheroes in the cause to eradicate Brain Cancer.

4th Grade Literacy Training

Mrs. Zambelli works hand-in-hand with our 4th grade faculty as we dig deeper into instructional best practice during our guided reading period.

All that participated were honored to be a part of the experience.  We want to especially thank Mrs. Arroyo's brother, Chief Petty Officer Harling who is still on active duty stationed in Alaska.  Chief Petty Officer Harling Skyped in from his duty station.  Enjoy the video below.
